Follow me on Twitter @Linamay

I tweet. I mean I unashamedly annoyingly amazingly love to tweet. I tweet in the morning and I tweet in the evening, and I tweet several times in between. I am sure I over tweet and I’m sure I haven’t figured out the correct verbage, but be it twitter or tweet, I love it and I do it all day long.

I’m thrilled when a new person starts following me, even if it’s someone in south Africa by the name of @whosgotthegun. And I feel disappointed when old followers bail on me particularly when I’ve said nothing offensive.

I’m a twitter snob. I don’t follow many folks on twitter. I’m up to 24 lucky ones I follow. Don’t ask me how I picked those 24. It was random. And I’m likely not going to add many more.

One of the people I follow is Rick Warren. I’m not really sure why I follow him. He’s got like 200,000 people who follow him, which in of itself should make me not, but somehow he made my list, and I get to get a glimpse into his brain on a daily basis.

I will say this – hands down, without debate – Rick overtweets. But somehow he gets away with it.

Here’s what he tweeted recently:

“Google! Don’t try to tell me what I’m looking for even before I get the 2nd letter typed out. You’re not a mind reader.”

And here’s where I part ways with Pastor Rick. I love the fact that google reads my mind. I love the fact that 7 out of 10 times I don’t have to finish typing my sentence but can immediately press enter. I love it most when I’m on my iphone. It makes me happy to see that 2 letters into my word, google’s got my back!

It makes my life easier and smoother. I figure it saves me 6 seconds a google search, which I’m sure over the course of a lifetime adds up to about an hour. And I for one thank google for it.

I love everything about google. I love the word itself. Google. I love their clean look, and I love their themes based around the word ‘google”. I love their CEO. If only he were single….I love how low key everyone at google seems. I love California and computer geeks and flip flops.

And I love the fact that google tries to read my mind.

If only more people tried that in life. When I’d walk into Starbucks, someone would immediately get my drink going. In honor of Beth Moore I’ve acquired a new caffeine vice: the pumkin spice latte. When I walk up to a redbox, I wish the machine would know which movie I wanted to rent. And when I glance at a guy, I wish the message would be as clear as a billboard.

But here’s where I do agree with Rick. Sometimes, google doesn’t get it right.

And that’s why I prefer to pray. God always gets it right. He is the perfect mind reader. He knows my thoughts before they make it to my lips. He understands my emotions – always, and he gets my mood before I even realize I’m in a mood.

I can live without google, I can live without twitter, but I cannot, I dare not, I will not live without God.
