Why do you do what you do?
Why do you get up on time?
Why do you dress up thoughtfully in the morning?
Why do you get to work on time?
Why do you get the job your boss asks you to do?
Why do you treat others with kindness and respect?
Why do you come back home at the end of the day instead of going out with your friends?
Why do you do the laundry and clean the house?
Why do you cook dinner every single night whether it turns out good or not?
Why do you change out of your yoga pants into real clothes even though you have nowhere to go?
Why do you choose the less expensive brands?
Why do you clip those coupons?
Why do you quietly listen to your husband at the end of the day when you’re the one who’s been cooped up all day with 25000 words left in your mouth?
Why do you go to church on Sundays?
Why do you read your Bible every day?
Why do you still fill in those bible study blanks day after day?
Why do you change the channel when that commercial comes on?
Why do you put that magazine back on the shelf?
Why do you say please and thank you and smile at the teller?
Why do you dream of getting married?
Why do you want another child?
Why do you hope to adopt?
Why do you want a raise?
Why do you need another car?
Why do you go on vacation?
Why do you give to charity?
Why do you hope to write a book?
Why do you aspire for a promotion?
Why do you choose certain friends and not others?
Why do you do what you do?
Have you considered your motives today?
You can do good and godly things with the wrong motives.
And you can fail in a big way with the right motives.
Why do you do what you do?
