absolutely refuse to give in to discouragement.
go to all extremes, put in any cost it will require of you. but above all else, do not give in to discouragement.
it comes out of nowhere for me. i’ll wake up in the morning, check my emails, notice that not one person has remembered to say hello to me, or i’ll check the traffic on my blog, and yep, you 11 people are still the only faithful readers of this sad blog, or i’ll check my bank accounts and add up how much i will have left after i pay all my bills, or i’ll think about the work i still need to do to get ready for an upcoming event, or i’ll just suddenly realize i’m not 22 anymore, and the chances of a fairytale life have long passed me….and well, i find myself mired in self pity and despair.
never ever give in to discouragement.
A W Tozer once said that what you believe about God is the most important thing about you.
the moment you feel yourself being taken prey by a discouraging thought, stop and remember who God is. remember his goodness always. remember that nothing in your life has happened by accident. remember that God knew you before you were born, even before you were placed in your mother’s womb, and that he has a plan for your life. remember that he has promised to work all things out for good in your life if you love him and are called according to his purpose. remember that he is the great provider who meets every one of your needs. remember that he who began a good work in you will complete it. he is completing it. what you think is a mistake right now is just God’s way of perfecting you. remember that God loves you.
So much that he gave his only son and put him on the cross for you. so that you can be free.
and so that you can remember how much he loves you.
do not – i mean, do not – give in to discouragement.
Tozer also said that the devil is a better theologian than any of us and is a devil still.
the devil knows that discouragement is his means of stopping you and me from living the life God has called us to live. and the devil will do anything, i mean anything to get you off track.
never, never give in to discouragement.
three days after his death, Jesus rose from the dead.
no matter how evil the devil is, God is greater. No matter how hard the devil tries, God has secured us a life of infinite joy and freedom because of the risen Christ.
never give in to discouragement
