I started to write a blog this morning about easter. Wait..i didn’t just start to write it, I actually had it all done with, and I thought it was quite well written and cute, but as soon as I pressed “submit” I somehow destroyed it into cyberspace.
I hate it when things like that happen, but it always makes me stop and wonder if it wasn’t meant to be.
So i got to thinking about what I had written, and frankly, I’m glad it was lost.
I talked about the open tomb, and how God surprised Mary when she saw the stone rolled away from the door of the tomb.
I asked whether there is a situation in your life where you feel the way is blocked, and how God can do anything! He rose from the dead after all.
And I missed the entire point of Easter.
See, Easter isn’t about me getting the things I want because my God is able to do the job.
Of course he’s able.
And Easter isn’t about surprises. God foretold of his death and resurrection a million times during his time on earth.
No…..to boil down easter to surprises and wishes fulfilled absolutely robs Christ of the truth of who He is and what He did.
He is God. He demands holiness.
I am a sinner. I deserve death.
And in a much foretold moment in history, the only acceptable payment for my sin was offered once and for all through the death of Jesus on the cross.
And in his resurrection I have life.
And peace.
And freedom.
And an eternity in heaven with the King of Kings.
My pastor said it right this morning. This is personal.
There is a line drawn in the sand.
The death and resurrection of Jesus is on one side.
On the other side are all the other man made roads to heaven.
Which side are you on?
