Preparing for a Party

Planning a Christmas party is not easy. There are so many details to think of. There are so many things to buy. And just when you think you’ve got it figured out, someone throws you for a loop and you find yourself running around at the last minute troubleshooting the latest problem.

By the time the party comes around, a small part of you wishes you’d never planned that thing to begin with.

But then comes the celebrating – the singing, and the dancing, and the glitzy clothes, and the clapping. Forgotten are the weeks of work leading up to the event, and forgotten is the headache you didn’t think would disappear. It’s party time, and it makes every minute of effort worth it.

It’s a bit like the Christian’s life. You spend your days preparing and working and hoping and troubleshooting. There are people to invite, and glitches to work through. There are difficult people to manage and details to tend to. Sometimes you wonder why in the world you started the process anyway, and other times you wonder if it’s too late to back out.

But there’s a party coming and it’s going to be worth every second of work and effort you and I are putting in.

On that day every tear will be dried and every ache will disappear. On that day death will be no more, and there will be no more mourning. The party’s going to be like nothing you and I have ever experienced.

It will be worth it all.

Don’t throw in the towel. Don’t look back and wonder.

You’re getting ready for a party, and you’re not going to regret it one bit.
