Someone asked who made me the advice queen. Well that wasn’t verbatim what they said, but it’s close enough.
I feel I should clarify and reiterate that I never said I knew everything.
I do know that over $300,000.00 of education and more than 20 years of school helps you know a little more than the average person.
But my friend who asked the question has a right to ask.
And frankly, she’s not asking whether I know medical facts, or business facts.
What she is asking is how I claim to know the answers to life and the problems it brings.
The thing is that few have the right answers, so the question begs to be asked. What makes me think I know?
The truth is I know very little.
But I know someone who does knows.
Or like my pastor likes to say: “I know very little, but I do know one thing – God wrote a book”.
And in this book, God made this statement: “His divine power has granted to us ALL things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.” (II Peter 1:3).
There is not one question that any of us can have that is not answered in God’s word, the Bible.
You can listen to Oprah, Dr.Phil or Dr. Oz all day long, you will never glean an iota of lasting insight.
You can listen to me all day long and fall asleep in a second.
But you open your ears and listen to what God has to say in His word, and your life will be changed.
I don’t care if it’s financial questions you have, or questions about relationships. You may be single and want to know who to marry, or married and want to know how your husband can change. Maybe for you it’s a problem with depression or anxiety. Maybe you’re curious about what happens to you after you die, or what the purpose of your life is. You may just want to know how long you’ll live.
I don’t care what the question you have on your mind today is, God has the answer. And he’s given to us in His word.
If the advice I give to anyone swerves or deviates from His word one iota, then I guarantee you it’s worth nothing.
Don’t waste your time.
Watching television is more fun.
But if what you’re seeking is God’s word on a matter, then ask your question. I have time to look it up, and years of reading it to know where to find the answer.
That’s all I offer.
Jesus is the beginning and the end of the matter.
Put your trust in Him. Read His word.
Your life will change for the better.
You want freedom? You want joy? You want security? You want peace?
That’s what I’m talking about.
Get it.
