Stuck!

Do you ever feel stuck?

I mean really really stuck?

Like tires in the snow, revving the engine but going nowhere stuck?

Like turning the wrench around the lugnut without making a budge in the now stripped screw stuck?

Like running as hard as you can and with everything you’ve got, only to wake up and realize it was only a dream, and you’re still in your bed stuck?

I hate that feeling.

You don’t like where you’re at. You know where you want to be. But you have no idea how to get there.

It’s like you’re in a pit and you’re crying for help, but it feels like the closest human being is 2 States away.

It’s like you got lost on your hike and you’re trying to tell east from west, but all you see is a bunch of trees that look the same and the park ranger is nowhere in sight.

What do you do when you’re stuck in your life?

Maybe you feel you’re too old to change things around.

Maybe you feel like too many people are depending on you to stay the same.

Or you just plain have no idea how to get there?

I think Job felt that way.

In Job 23:8-9 it says “Behold, I go forward, but he is not there, and backward, but I do not perceive him; on the left hand when he is working, I do not behold him; he turns to the right hand, but I do not see him.”

Yeah, I think Job felt this way.

Everything he believed in was put to the test. Would God come through for him? Would his life ever have meaning again? Would he ever make sense of the craziness and misfortune he had run into and seemed forever stuck in?

Is there hope when you are stuck?

I’d say Job felt that there was.

In Job 23:10 he adds these words to his lament….he says “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold”.

Oh, you may be stuck, but God knows the way.

David also understood it.

In Psalms 40:1-3 he says this:

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord”.

Do you feel like you’re stuck?

Take heart. There is no pit so deep that God cannot reach you there.

There is no place so dark that God cannot see you there.

There is no road so far that God does not know the way back.

His arm is long enough to reach you.

His heart is big enough to love you.

His grace is real enough to save you.

Take heart. You won’t be stuck forever.
