My parents surprised me with a visit yesterday. I’m not much for surprises, but that was a good surprise.
Minor glitch, though. I found out they were coming after I had left for work.
My first thought was – I hope the house is in good condition.
See, I was supposed to work a 12 hour shift, and there would be no way to go back and fix the house to make sure it was in guest ready condition. Yikes.
And grant it, it’s only my parents, but to think that I almost left my laundry in a pile in the room because of laziness! Thank God I decided at the last minute to run them downstairs delaying my work commute by 1 extra minute. Whew.
However, this morning I did realize that I had not cleaned up the fridge very well. There was a dish that my mom had cooked for me 1 month ago that was still in the fridge. Busted!
I felt terrible because I knew the effort it took her to make that dish, but just didn’t get around to eating it. This morning I noticed the mold in it. Out to the trash it went. A total waste of food and space.
All in all though I’d say I fared pretty well. I know my friends are chuckling because I have the reputation of somewhat being a neat freak, but the bad news is – so is my mom!! So for better or for worse, the standard may just be a little higher in our house…
Hey…Have you gotten the point I’m making? If you’re not a christian, you probably have not.
But if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, I think you may have made the mental leap.
Jesus Christ is coming back at any given moment in any given day.
No warning.
No fanfare.
Listen, it is going to happen. No doubt about it.
Are you ready for his return? Is your house in order?
Is there anything in your house you’d rather he not see? Is there anything in your life you’d rather be not doing?
I don’t mean to sound like an old fashioned Bapstist preacher, but it’s true. Christ is coming again, and those who know Him will be thrilled. Those who don’t will be shrilled.
There won’t be time to prepare. There won’t be time for excuses.
It could happen today.
Are you ready?
