Today’s blog is on the lighter side. It is a hot Saturday in June, and well, who really feels like being serious?
Plus this is too good to pass up.
I saw an article on Yahoo yesterday titled: “20 things you should never buy used”, and I simply had issue with it. I figured I’d see what you all think.
Here’s what made their list:
Cribs and children’s furniture, Car seats, Bicycle helmets, Tires, Laptops, Software, Plasma and HDTVs, DVD players, Digital and Video cameras
Speakers and microphones, Camera lenses, Photo light bulbs, Mattresses and bedding, Swimsuit and undergarments, Wet suits, Shoes, Hats, Make up, Pet supplies, Vaccuum cleaners
Excuse me??!
Now mind you, I totally understand skipping the used underwear. Maybe even the swimwear.
But say that again?
Someone please tell the folks at Yahoo that our economy is in crisis, that the unemployment rate is over 10%, that taxes keep going up, and the cost of living in my town is more than most people actually make, and that if I find a used vacuum cleaner that I like, well thank you very much, but I don’t care how much wear and tear it’s been through, it’s mine!
Here’s a few good tips from “Dr.” Lina:
If it smells, skip it
If it has things crawling out of it, don’t touch it
If the person selling it to you is someone who has a grudge against you, beware.
Otherwise, get yourself the neighborhood newspaper, find out where the closest garage sale is, and call me if you find a HDTV on the used market.
Happy Summer!
