Landmark Decisions

I’d like to share with you the most important decisions I’ve made in my life thus far:

1. Accepting Jesus Christ as my personal savior when I was a kid.

2. Dedicating my life to the Lord when I was a teenager. Totally changed the course of my life and set the tone for years to come.

3. Starting in the premed major in college. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t be a doctor today.

4. The decision to read my Bible daily the day I began medical school. I did it to survive. I’m still alive today.

5. The decision to run daily the day I began medical school. I did it to alleviate stress. Still running today.

6. Breaking up my first engagement 12 years ago. A girl from Beirut wasn’t meant to live in east Texas the rest of her days.

7. Breaking up my second engagement over a year ago. Never looked back.

8. Answering the call to go into vocational ministry. Happened 10 years ago. Didn’t understand what it meant then. Still don’t fully understand it today, but I’m in.

9. Setting up a safe guard on my computer. You must guard against sin no matter what. No easy way around it.

10. Letting go of past hurts. This doesn’t magically happen on its own. It is a difficult willful decision that must be done to be able to move forward.

I’m sure there are other great decisions I’ve made in my life, but these are my top 10. Think about your top 10 and write them down somewhere.
