How to Keep from Falling

You don’t see it coming.

Next thing you know you’re flat on your face.

You know what I’m talking about.  My Pastor James Macdonald says it like this:

One false move and you could spend the rest of your life trying to get back to where you were.

Nobody plans on it. You’re on the road somewhere, and you’re usually in a hurry to get there. But we both know it’s easy to slip. All it takes is a misstep.

Or not.

I’d like to give you 4 ways to make sure you don’t fall flat on your face.

1. Look for Blind Spots. The semi nearly ran me over as I got onto the interstate. It’s a horrible feeling. The road looks clear except for that one small spot that I always miss. We all have blind spots. Find out what yours is and don’t ignore it. It’s the surest way to avoid disaster.

2. Listen to the Warnings. Nobody sees my blind spots better than my mother! She usually annoys me until I’m safe and realize that her back seat driving has just saved my life – again! Surround yourself with back seat drivers: people who will tell you when you’re headed for that slippery slope. You’ll be glad you did!

3. Get up Quickly. The truth is that sooner or later we will all fall. When that happens pray that something breaks your fall – like maybe God’s grace!! And when you do fall, remember the righteous man who fell 7 times in the book of Proverbs, but got back up every single time. So go ahead and dust off your elbows, wrap up your ankle, and get back on the road! The journey is not over.

4. Be Honest. Stop lying to yourself and excusing your little missteps. I know because I catch myself doing it all the time. I tell myself my shoes will last another year, or my vision doesn’t need a re-check. I tell myself not to worry because I’ve never fallen that way before. I tell myself all kinds of lies and get a false sense of security. Listen, the Bible says that pride comes before a fall. It’s true. There’ s no room for pride in my life. Neither is there in yours.

So…wanna keep from falling flat on your face?

Why don’t you start right now!

How to keep from falling? This is very well said, to look at yourself and not at everyone else. I know sometimes I don’t always see the warnings specially when I’m not in the word. Don’t let saint bring you down get up fast and praise God for everything. To be honest with my self, the time that I need to spend in God’s word to do all these things is sometimes not enough. I saw my ex for the first time and if it was not for the fact that my mind tour was at church. I don’t know what I would have done, maybe just cry the rest of the day. I was told one time to vet right with God, spend hours with him. You never know what you will learn, now that’s all I want to do. I’m so in love with God, that I’m giving him my desire to get married as my lamb. He is my groom :-)
