How long are you willing to wait on God?
Psalms 27:14 says this:
Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait I say on the Lord.
But it doesn’t give any parameters as to timelines.
I hate that.
I hate waiting.
In fact, I find that I wait on God much as I do on the lab at the hospital.
No matter when I call to check on the results that have already been there for hours, the person who answers assures me that it will only take five minutes more.
No joke.
As if there wasn’t a child on the verge of death waiting for those very results. Don’t they know anything?
Or I wait on God like I do the slow driver in front of me. Who let them get a license anyway? Don’t they know I have important places to go and people to see?
I know best what’s best for me.
It is my life after all.
But look at the verse immediately before Psalms 27:14….
I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Incredible. Etch this verse in your mind, write it on your foreheads. Don’t live a day without reading it and believing it.
God is good.
He knows what I need. He sees every bend in the road. He knows every hill on the way. His delays are for my good. He’s like the good father who won’t let his 7 year old get behind the wheel, because, well, it ain’t time yet.
He isn’t ignoring me.
He hasn’t forgotten me.
He isn’t busy solving other people’s problems.
He is perfecting that which concerns my life.
He loves me.
So I will keep on waiting.
As long as it takes.
