I’m a New Believer, Now What?

Your life as a Christian does not end when you accept Christ. On the contrary, your life is just starting!

God has so much more for your life than you can even imagine.

So, maybe you’re wondering where to start now that you’ve accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Here are some things for you to do.

Begin to Follow and Obey Jesus.  The first way to show God that you were serious about giving your life to Him is to start obeying Him. The way to know His truth is in the Bible. Get in the Bible. Start by reading the gospel of John. It’s a great place to start and is a book that lays out the basics of being a Christian.

Read the Bible daily

Pray

John 8:12

John 8:31-32

Deny self and Make Jesus Lord. As a Christian you are no longer serving “Me”. Jesus Christ is now the Lord of your life. That means every aspect of your life is changed by Him. In 1 Corinthians 5:17 it says the old is passed, ALL has become new. You have got to develop new habits and new ways of thinking.

Get into a Bible Believing Church.

Make friends with other Jesus following believers.

Matthew 16:24-25

Matthew 19:16-30

Luke 18:18-30

Remember what God does for us! The process of growing in your walk with Christ is called “Sanctification”. Though your agreeing to obey God is part of the equation, the main part can only be done by the Lord Jesus Christ. Just like He died for you to save you, He promises to give you what you need to be a growing Christian!

He gives us the Holy Spirit! John 7:38-39, I John 4:13

He allows us to bear good fruit. Matthew 3:8, Matthew 12:33.

He assures us of our salvation: I John 3:19-20, I John 5:13

He answers our prayers: I John 3:21-22, I John 5:14

He puts His love in our hearts so that we can love others like he loves us! I John 4:7-11, I John 4:19.
