I recently found myself with a stab wound to the side and no one around to help stop the bleeding.

Twitter had stabbed me and run with no witnesses to testify.

It happened on a rainy day in September. I was walking alone with few cares in mind. I wasn’t looking for trouble when all of a sudden I noticed that someone I liked had stopped following me on twitter.

I think we are all aware by now that the economy is not so great and that people are learning to stretch every dollar.

If you have a job, I know you’re thankful for it.

I’m thankful for mine.

But if you don’t, this post is for you.

I can’t imagine the courage you have as you wake up to face each new day. I can’t imagine the weight you bear on your shoulder day after day.

I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since our first Scripture Memory Team Entry!

You guys got the SMT off to a great start with almost 200 entries.

But as you and I know, many Christians start strong and then simply get….lazy. Not us, though! We are in it to win it.

So….without further ado, go ahead and click on the comments bar at the top of this post, or click on “continue reading” and scroll down to the comments area to enter your 2nd SMT verse.

Aren’t you glad it’s Friday? I’d like to thank those of you who just started reading my blog in the last week.

On Fridays, I randomly pick a name from my subscriber list to win a $25 gift card. This week’s winner is: ccrawford1! Email me at lina@livingwithpower.org with your address to get the card.

Also on Fridays I take a little break from the usual format and share a wonderful and easy recipe with you. This week’s recipe is for Baba Ghanoush. I figured since it’s Rosh Hashanah, and since I’m Lebanese, and since most people walk right by the eggplants in the produce section, I’d help you out with a great recipe that brings all those things together. Someone asked me a good question recently.

“Given your druthers, what would you like to see God do in your life?”

I’m rarely stumped, but I was stumped. Do I get multiple choice options? Can I pick “d” – all of the above?

I’ve noticed that when it comes to asking God specific things in my life, I tend to hesitate.

It’s all in a name.

At the name of Jesus every knee will bow.

The hardest lies to detect are usually the ones with just a little bit of truth sprinkled in them.

Lately I’ve found myself listening to some half truths.

Need some examples of half truths? Here’s one: I’m a really good driver. I’ve hardly ever gotten a speeding ticket. Of course, the half truth is that I’ve been pulled over at least a dozen times this year, but managed to doctor my way out of the ticket.

I hate half truths. They have a way of messing with my mind, my faith, my life.

No wonder Satan likes them. They worked on Adam and Eve, and they keep on working today.

I want to share with you 4 half truths that I’ve caught myself believing lately.

I’ve always liked lists.

When other people bought e-tablets for their to do lists, I bought more 3×5 index cards.

It doesn’t matter how sophisticated my apple products get, I will always carry a small piece of paper with a list of things to do on it.

It’s not surprising then that I like to think about life in organized lists. Recently I sat down for a few minutes to process my life in the ER. I’ve always felt that life in the ER is a microcosm for life in the real world. I believe the list I made up of lessons from the ER can apply to any area of your life. I hope this list will be helpful to you too.

I spent the last two days literally locked up in the prison of the ER.

It started at 5pm on Friday night and didn’t end until Saturday at 530pm.

I’m not a resident anymore, so I fully realize the ridiculousness of the last day, but once in a while I still have to endure these hours that make my skin crawl.

As I review the day, I can assure you that I sewed up more kids than I can count, took care of more fractures than I can remember, checked ears and throats and lungs and toes, and talked to more moms than I can recall.

Everybody wants unity.

Churches want it.

Governments want it.

Even families want it.

But nobody wants to give up their rights.
