I’m going to take a break in regular programming today to bring 2 items to your attention.
1. The Upside Down Series. I will begin teaching a study of Acts on September 13. If you live in the Chicago area, I’m inviting you to join us on Tuesday nights for class at Harvest Bible Chapel. Click here to register. If you do not live in Chicago but want to participate, you can buy the workbook by visiting the Media page, and going through it on your own. Each week, I will post an audio recording of my teaching by thursday morning for you.
2. The Scripture Memory Team. I’m introducing the SMT for you today. As many of you know, Beth Moore is my new best friend. As such, she has willingly agreed to let me use her brilliant Scripture Memory Method that has been so successful in her ministry. When I asked her whether I can blatantly plagiarize her idea for Scripture Memory, her exact response was: “Do it. I believe God loves it!”
Here’s how it’s going to work:
On the 1st and 15th of every month starting September 15, 2011, I will ask for your memory verse and give you mine.
- You are to enter the verse you’ve chosen to memorize for that 2-week period within 24 hours of the post going up.
- When you clock in with your verse 2 times a month, keep your comments limited to your name, location, verse, and translation. Here is a sample comment: Lina from Mount Prospect: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 ESV
- Choose a verse that means something to you in your present season or circumstance. Try to refrain from memorizing scripture you think your spouse or your children need to learn. Memorize what you need to learn.
- Stick with only 1 verse to memorize each time. Keep it simple and meaningful.
- Write the verse by hand in your own spiral notebook or 3×5 card system or purchase a beautiful scripture memory pack on our media page.
- Review your verses with a friend regularly.
If you go to my church, we will have a year end celebration in June for those who enter 15 out of 17 entries between now and the end of our ministry year in May.
If you are a blog follower, we will do this through July 1, 2012. If you enter 17 out of 20 memory verses, I will enter your name in a raffle for an iPad, and will also buy your registration for a Kay Arthur Conference at Harvest Bible Chapel on July 28-29.
These are great opportunities to get the word of God in our heart. I hope you will find both the Bible Study and the Scripture Memory Team a huge benefit to you in your walk with the Lord.
I may not be Beth Moore, but I feel like I could hug your necks and love each and every one of you.
Lina
