Life requires discipline.
My brother Nick is running his first marathon today.
That’s a huge deal. For as long as I can remember, Nick and sports just didn’t go together. If it entailed putting on gym shoes, he wasn’t interested. It could be the funnest event in the world, as long as it required moving, Nick was out.
If you would have told me a year ago that Nick would think of running a marathon, I would have laughed in your face.
He was the most unlikely candidate for the job. Sure, by then, he had started working out with a trainor and slowly was getting into shape….but a marathon….No way jose!!
Then came Christmas day and his crazy prediction: “I’m going to run the marathon in May”…
Ha. We chuckled. Sure you will.
And Pandas will show up in the grand cayman.
But today, Nick is having the last laugh.
If you ask Nick the million dollar question: How?
I know this is what his answer will be: Training.
The day after christmas Nick got out his training schedule and started logging down the miles. Come rain, come shine, Nick was out pounding the pavement. Step by step by step.
He started at 5 miles, and built up to 26.2.
Day after day after day.
You wanna to know your Bible better?
You wanna pray like your pastor does?
You wanna be a better Christian?
You get a journal and start logging in the days. One after the next after the next.
Pretty soon you will wake up a new person.
And everyone will see it.
