I love my church.
In fact I love it so much I stopped just attending, and I started working there too.
Like I said. I really love my church.
You’re probably wondering why. Well at the risk of sounding elitist and clicky, I think it’s only fair that I share my reasons why I love my church with you. I realize that many of you reading this post don’t actually come to my church, but perhaps this post will inspire you to think about the reasons why you love your own church too.
If you don’t have a church to love, you can always come to mine. After all, I love my church.
So…without further ado, let me give you the reasons why I love my church – in no particular order of imporatance.
1. The undiluted preaching of God’s Word – the Bible.
2. The elevation of Jesus Christ, God’s son, our Savior.
3. The inescapable presence of God week after week after week.
4. The amazing worship experience.
5. James Macdonald. If you haven’t been treated to his preaching, check out his ministry walk in the word. It’s amazing.
6. The smiley ushers. If you’ve read this blog, you know my love affair with the ushers.
7. The greeters. Almost as great as the smiley ushers, and equally as important.
8. The myriads of volunteers. Aren’t you impressed with my wide range of descriptive words?
9. The children’s ministry rocks. And my friends who volunteer there rock too.
10. The unquenchable hunger for God in the hearts of the people.
11. It’s a people’s church.
12. It’s God’s church.
13. The beautiful newly paved parking lot.
14. The fact that I don’t have to hold a hymn book open on sunday mornings when I’m just….tired.
15.There’s a cool new coffee bar that I haven’t visited, but the idea of it is luring, and I love it.
16. The bookstore. It’s open on sundays!
17. There are no big surprises week after week, which I love, since I’m a creature of habit, but it never gets boring either.
18. The steady and unmistakable conviction of the Holy Spirit – even when I don’t seek it.
19. La La Landon. I guess you have to be part of my church to get that one. Sorry for sounding elitist and clicky.
20.The variety of service time options. I never have an excuse to miss.
21. The timeliness of each service. I know when it starts and when it ends. That doesn’t sound very spiritual, but it’s the truth.
22. The women’s ministry director. Ha.
23. All the good looking guys for me to date. Ok, I got carried away on that way….But there has to be a couple somewhere for me to find.
24.The multi campus concept: if I get tired of one church, I can go to another campus without actually changing churches.
25. The global impact my church has. Wow. It’s staggering, and I’m proud of it! Harvest Bible Fellowship is now worldwide, and churches helping churches is an amazing organization that helps churches after disasters hit.
Did I forget anything? Of course I could go on and on and on but I’ll let you fill in the things I forgot! Meanwhile, enjoy yourself some rest today.
