Friday Give Away and LWP Fund

All right. I have a few things to cover today.

I’ll start with my usual $25 Friday give away to someone from my email subscriber list. This week’s winner is: pawsymoto77! Congrats. Email me at lina@livingwithpower.org to claim the gift.

If you want to subscribe to my blog click here!

I’ve been thinking a lot about overwhelming need and give away’s. What’s a better way to meet people’s needs? How can I be more intentional in meeting true need?

In an effort to prayerfully consider these things, I’m going to start a Living with Power Fund for benevolence by putting away money each Friday for each comment you leave on my blog. Here’s how it will work:

  • You will help me help others by leaving a comment. Please limit your entries to 1 comment per person.
  • I will put away $5 per comment each Friday in a separate account that I will then use to meet needs.
  • If you have a true need or are aware of a true need in your community, please email me at lina@livingwithpower.org and let me know about it.
  • What constitutes a true need? That sounds like a blog I’ll be writing soon! Stay tuned.

Here’s what I believe: God will bring the right needs to my attention, and He will give me the wisdom in giving. I don’t have a doubt about that.

I also believe this is simply the first step of getting more organized in giving. The more God blesses His children, the more He expects us to bless others. Let’s be praying over how each of us can give more.

I’m so grateful for each of you, and for your pushing me to think and give one step further.

Today’s question for you to comment on is this: (if you’re reading this via email, click here for the comments page).

If I only had one more year to live, I would _______________ .

If I only had one more year to live, I wouldn’t want to work. Only because I would want the time to be with family and friends. Not to mention be with those I can share with what God has done in my life before I leave. I want to build a legacy for my children to pour out to others, the great works God can do as what he has done in my life. I want to pour out to young mom’s, teenagers suffering in this world with image and their worth, women and marriages. There is nothing more powerful then sharing your own testimonies of what God has done in different areas in your life. Who can tell the story better then yourself, don’t wait another day, do it today.

If I only had one more year to live, I would work even more diligently to share Christ with those I have beenwitnessing too. I would spend even more time loving them so they can see Christ through me.
I could say take a cruise or enjoy all the things that I have not done which I would want to do, but sharing my faith and prayer for the lost is very important in these times!

In the words of Tim McGraw…
    I’d go sky divin’,
    I’d go rocky mountain climbin’,
I’d go 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fu Manchu.
    And love deeper,
    And speak sweeter,
And give forgiveness I’ve been denying… Little things would be irrelevant and relationships and sharing love would be a priority, along with trying lots of new things. :) )

One year to live? I would probably cry first then get everything in order as much as possible for my family then just spend as much time with them and friends as possible. I would spend time telling people about Jesus and I would make a video to tell friends and family that I didn’t get a chance to talk to. So you have made me think Lina – why am I not doing all of this wholeheartedly now? Time to step it up I think – thanks!

Amazingly, I have no idea how to answer this. Kinda one of those ‘I don’t know until I’m in that position’ type thing. I did, however, want to leave a comment for the LWP Fund. I think it’s a wonderful idea and a very selfless thing for you to do!

  • brittney

…I would share with everyone on my path the faithfulness and power of our Lord who rescued me from the fire and given me the honor and humbling privledge of sharing Him through this experience. It is the most overwhelming experience I have been through but filled with more blessings than I could ever have imagined. I intend on spending the rest of my life givng HIM glory and praise through this journey I am on!

  • Roxanne

I think that I am not in that position … Having only 1 year to live and knowing it. I do however wish that I could live every day always doing (or at least trying) to do everything with good intention and for the right purpose. It is my hope that would keep everything else in line.

  • ramzi

so, let me understand this right. $5 will be donated, as a result of this little turdy comment? well here goes and wish whoever benefits from it well!

I will enjoy my last year. I will minimize computer time (I enjoy it as it is beneficial but worthless in terms of enjoying life itself–have u ever ‘visited’ a place totally online…).

I would bike a good bit and get in good shape (feels so good).

I would meditate and pray and try to influence people to do right.

  • Tammy

Wow, that is good question. If I only had one more year to live, I would be so excited to finally see-be with my Jesus for Eternity- no more tears, etc. And within that year I would love to do whatever the Lord’s will is for me for such a time as this, serving, giving, loving HIM more through sharing Christ more + spending time loving my family + friends, hoping they would come to know my Lord/Savior in that time + thru my passing. Praise be to God for HIS Glory! :) No Jesus No Peace.. Know Jesus Know Peace..

I would live in the moment and choose the next right response that honors God to the best that I am able thru the power of His Holy Spirit. I would spend as much time in His Word reading and sharing as he would allow and praying for my impact on my husband and family.

  • Carol G

I know this is late (Saturday) but I just wanted to say that I would try to quit being so cranky to my husband, quit my part-time job, smile a lot more and love and be loved.

  • Sharee

If I only had one more year to live and I knew it, my primary source of living with this knowledge would be the Lord, God. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I would deal with what that means for me and my loved ones.
I would very quickly get rid of all the clutter that I have put off for years, (You do this before you move) and get about the Lord’s work.
I wonder why I would have to be almost dead before I actually did this? Maybe this is why you posted this question on your blog. No one knows how long they have to live, I may be gone next week, so maybe I should live like I may have one more year to live. Thanks, Lina.

  • Alyssa

I would help my husband find a new wife! And spend lots of time with the people that I love that live so far away, and sharing Christ more and more with my unbelieving friends.

give my son and my husband a year-long never-ending hug

and tell everyone I know about Jesus.

Man….why does it take me dying to do that last one? Now I’m all paranoid God is going to send an angel to tell me I have one year to live so I better get talking.

  • Alethea

Try and be more intentional in all I did and I wouldn’t waste time.

  • Darlene

If I only had one more year to live, I would spend as much time as I could with my family and friends. I would try to do some of the things I’ve always wanted to do. I would make sure my heart was right with God so that when I died I would at least know where I was going. I would try to make my life into an example for others and live for God so that my children can learn how to face life’s challenges on their own.
