Friday Give Away

On Fridays on Living with Power, I simply give things away.

There is a weekly $25 gift card give away to one of my lucky email subscribers. You can be a part of it by subscribing. Simply click here.

This week’s gift card winner is: ivy garven. Email me at lina@livingwithpower.org to claim your card!

A couple of weeks ago, I also started putting away $5 per comment each Friday towards a fund I’ve called the LWP Fund. You have helped me raise $625 so far. The goal of the fund is to meet needs. It may not feel like much of a fund yet, but it will grow with time. I posted more thoughts about this last week.

You can help in 2 ways:

  • Leave a comment each Friday.
  • Tell your friends about this blog. You can use the icons on the left of your screen to share the post via twitter or facebook, or you can email it to a friend.

Living with Power is now a non profit organization, and we will be filing for 501c3 status in early April. I will keep you posted on how things are going.

Your support means more than you think. Each comment you leave, and each post you share, and each friend you tell is a way to grow the vision of helping others while sharing the gospel.

This week’s question for comments is: If you had direct access to anyone in the world, who would that be and what would you say?

If had direct access 2 anyone in the world who would it be?what would I say.Well honestly it would be you. after I stopped being nervous I would ask a ton of questions. Hers a few. How do you accomplish everything u do? What keeps u so driven and focused? Do u realize that impact u had in so many lives? Do u ever sleep? Will u ever get married? What do u do 2 keep ur self grounded & humble? Do u have a twin? I think u do cuz u accomplish so much. What made u start LWP? these are just a we all want 2 know ..this was a tough 1. I based my choice on who has taught me so much .and who has brought me closer to God and has made my faith so much stronger. So,thank-you. Have a blessed day :)

aunt MiMi..my counselor at camp in 5th grade……who explained to me that i was a sinner. i know, right? how did i not know that already? but even better, she told me about Jesus’ obedient sacrifice to pay for that sin so that i can know Gods love in a deep way……and i would simply say “thank you”.

the Big question I would ask you is.Who would u Pick and what would u ask? Inquiring minds wanna know?!

  • Jennine G

I’m gonna cheat and name a dead person. It’s weird, I know, but the first person that came to my mind was Amy Winehouse. Even though she wasn’t a believer, it still baffles my mind to wonder why in the world someone so young, talented and famous would throw away their lives because of drugs and booze. So sad.

    • Lina

      Dead persons acceptable!!

If you had direct access to anyone in the world, who would that be and what would you say? Well I think I would find the company that my dad would like to work for or ask the banker that owns are house to be more understanding.

I would pick Bono. If you haven’t ever heard him speak or aren’t aware of the way he uses his resources to provide for people, it’s quite remarkable. He has an unbelievable compassion for people and reaching out to the last, the lost, the lonely…the ones in need. In all the talks I have heard he has never publicly said that Jesus is his savior but he talks about God… I want to probe further with him on this. He has said he has a problem with the church, us Christians, because we are hypocritical and judgmental, among other things. Well, not everyone. And, lastly, I would want a mini live concert just for me (and some of my favorite people of course! :) ) Anyone want to come?

My great grandmother – when I was a kid she used to ask me every time she saw me “Did you read your Bible today?” I used to lie and say yes to avoid lecture, so I would tell her I am sorry and I get it now and thank her for praying for me.

  • Ruth

    Billy graham

  • Alyssa

Nancy Leigh DeMoss! She has had such a profound impact on my life (and is continuing to do so). I would pick her brain about how to best submit to my husband with his personality, talents, and such.

  • Roxanna Ferris

By stating “anyone in the world,” I assume they would have to be living and not in heaven… so… if I had direct access to anyone, I think it might be a particular group of folks who currently reside and/or work (?) in Washington DC, for whom I have quite a few choice words… all truth spoken in love, of course. :)

President Obama – How do you reconcile your social policies with your faith?

  • Sam

Psh, easy. I would want to meet Joe Jonas. I’d first ask him if he’d marry me, then after he says no I’d polietly ask him to buy me a vespa and/or condo. Share the love.

  • Kimberly

I would want to talk to Jesus. I would ask him if he ever got a spanking from his mama, and when exactly did he realize he was God. His mama knew from the moment he was conceived. If anyone knew the truth, it was her.

If you had direct access to anyone in the world, who would that be and what would you say? I think of personally my relationship with my best friend, Jesus right away, He is the One true person I so adore and I do have access 24/7, thank God, and in the mornings, I say, I love you Lord, sometimes, I sing (ok make a joyful noise) + I say, ask, thank, praise, pray a lot. HE is the Only One in the world I need and He lives..He is alive, Amen! :) Think outside the box – think Eternal Everlasting Love.

  • Sarah

Lina I have no idea and running too crazy at the moment to even consider that… Lol! Honestly the only person I can think of would be Jesus but I already have full access to Him! Praise God!! Just wanted to be sure and leave a comment for you fund!

The first people who that came to mind were Janet Parshall and Chuck Colson. I’ve been listening to both on Moody radio for a while now and have been impacted by both of their ministries. I’m sure I’d have questions for both as they have each seen and done much in their lifetime, but I’m certain that I’d thank them for their ministry and their commitment to Biblical truth and passion for the Lord which is clearly evidenced in their programs.

  • Kathleen

My first thought is Jesus…who else to better spend time with? I would most likely be in total awe but then have lots of questions! I actually cannot wait to be in His presence!

  • Decafonly

I would probably want to talk to Bishop Jakes. After Elephant Room, I would like to just be closer to that humility…maybe it would rub off:)

  • Gina

Night time thought. 2nd person equally as important as the 1st I chose to speak directly to Jesus. These 2 have made an impact in my life.constantly.Big changes happening, important choices to make abt.schooling. Thankful to have both in my life. And also the people im working with that need spiritual direction&healing. All I understand is the future is brighter. :) p.s. u can pick which $5. goes towards LWP.

First I want to say congrats Ivette! Second, I would love to have access to the man who led me to the Lord. His name is Robert Shepard. We lost contact years ago and I have tried to locate him. I would love to tell him thank you for taking a messed up, scared, stubborn 16 year old and allowing God to use him to set me on the right path. I am a life changed through his obedience to Christ!!

  • http://www.gardenfedengoods.com Kindra

My Papa…I would thank him for being such a strong humble reflection of Christ. He never knew me when I knew Jesus as my Lord and Savior, oh how I look forward to seeing him in heaven!

  • Olga Hennessey

My father.Oh,how I want to see him and talk to him about everything what had happened in 25 years without him…

  • Gina

last comment. Since Lina has Friday give aways.the bike ill be donating will be her & her teams decision. It should be done by summer. :)

  • Laura

Pastor James and Kathy – I’d tell them ‘Thank you for your ministry and spurring us on towards the Lord.’

  • Laurie Newman

I would love to have direct access to Beth Moore and just have girlfriend chats and hangouts…. or Pres Bush Jr. – he just seems like someone I would enjoy hanging out with and having coffee and cake with. No big profound questions…. just enjoy their company :)
