Get it off the Shelf

I’m sitting in the kitchen staring at a blender that I begged and begged for last christmas. I’ve used it, like, zero times so far.

Which got me thinking about my AbCircle Pro that I drooled over on the television and bought on ebay with the hopes of losing 6 inches to my waist in 3 weeks.

Ya. That didn’t happen.

Because I used it, like, 4 times.

Then there’s this a-mazing steamer I bought. It is so cool. It’s calphalon (meaning not cheap) and it has this insert in which you put the veggies so they come out just right. I was so happy the day I got it in the mail. I couldn’t get my eyes or hands off of it.

Until I stowed it away in the closet in its very own special easy to access spot.

And not once have used it since then.

Does your Bible fall in that same category?

You accepted Christ and were on fire. I mean, you found the real deal. No one could shut you up or steer you off the one way road to heaven. A few days later you headed out to the nearest Christian bookstore and bought a brand spanking new Bible with your name engraved on it.

And found it a nice cozy place on an easy to reach shelf.

Then never once opened it to find out what was in it.

Like my blender, or my AbCircle pro, or my steamer, you just never got beyond opening the pretty package to dream about the potential in the box.

Isn’t it time to change all that?

I’m heading out to the grocery store to buy some fruit to blend and some veggies to steam. And yeah, later on today I may even do the 3 minute work out designed to give me a marilyn monroe waist (don’t hold me to it though!!)

Won’t you get your Bible out and start reading it?

It’s your food for life.

Stop staring at it. Start reading it.
