I would like to begin today’s blog by thanking each of you who took the time to read my thoughts on online dating and passionately responding to the points I made.
In fact, I was so moved by the comments that I joined an online dating service, found my match made in heaven. The wedding will be announced soon.
Seriously, I don’t mean to be glib. I did, though, receive your emails of online profiles of guys who may be a great match for me and for that I am deeply thankful. It turns out that I am friends with at least one of those guys. Who knew? And that I am not joking about!
I would like to make a couple of technical clarifications for the man reading this blog who may in fact be my future husband but may have gotten scared by my strong words yesterday. Sorry, honey, and don’t give up on me too soon.
Ok, now I’m just being annoying. Sorry…
But here’s the first clarification: Just because I don’t like the idea of online dating does NOT mean that I don’t like dating or marriage. I do. Very much so. So if you’re single over 35, have a job and love God, email me. Ha. (I guess this makes this a bit like online dating. Sorry!)
Second clarification: I have not dedicated my life to teach the Bible per se. I have dedicated my life to glorify God in everything I do and say, and to serve Him no matter where He says I should. For me today, that looks like doctoring kids in the best way possible, and leading the women at Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows Campus with as much passion and zeal that I can muster, and blogging and facebooking, and tweeting, and teaching the Bible on Tuesday nights in an effort to life up the name of Jesus higher.
Maybe nest year it will be in marriage.
I will promise this – I will retire the topic of dating for the next few days. So don’t give up on this blog yet.
And because you’ve read this far, let me give you a last spiritual nugget to chew on.
Major on the major and minor on the minors. Online dating is a minor. I love you in the Lord and sincerely apologize if my words yesterday offended you.
And finally, we serve Jehovah-Jireh, a God who provides. Above all He is a God who meets our needs. Yes, all of our needs: financial, relational, spiritual, physical, emotional, and every other need you may imagine. He does it in any possible way. He even spoke through an ass once.
Maybe there’s still hope He can speak through me!
