If you’re a Christian and you don’t particularly like church, I’ve got some bad news for you.
You’re not gonna like heaven.
It’s true. I’m not making that up.
At the end of the day, church is a lot like heaven in many many ways.
Grant it, I’m not gonna lie. Some things may be better in heaven. You probably will get to sleep in and they’ll probably serve nice warm lattes in heaven too. Oh, wait, they do that in your church too? Lucky you. Maybe I should go there.
Also, you probably won’t have to deal with nerdy ushers in heaven. You’ll be able to get your own box seats. And you won’t have to tithe – mostly because you won’t have to work in heaven. Or at least I’m hoping that’s the case.
No one will make you go to church in heaven. You’ll just want to. All the time. Hard to believe?
Nah. Not really. Here are 5 things you better like at church if you plan to enjoy heaven.
1. The Worship. Who knew worship could be even better than it is at your church? In heaven, it will be. It will be like a Chris Tomlin, Toby Mac, Matt Redman, Jeremy Camp with some Lacrae thrown in special Now I do have to warn you – if you’re not into the whole hand held high, clapping frequently, get excited kind of worship, you’ll have to get used to it because I have a feeling things are going to be pretty rocking in heaven.
2. The Bible. Technically speaking you won’t have a Bible in heaven but you will have God’s spoken word – in your face all the time and you will love every bit of it. So I’m not sure how your whole Bible reading plan is going for you right now, but if I were you, I’d start practicing listening to what God is saying. Some day you’ll be hearing it forever. And that’s a good thing!
3. The Other Christians. Some of you reading this just changed your mind about heaven. You don’t want anything to do with those other Christians. Yes, I mean the ones you used to go to church with but couldn’t stand so you started going to the church next door. They are all going to be in heaven and you will have to kiss and make up with all of them. Every one of them. Yikes. God is serious about forgiveness. Like I said, start practicing now!
4.The Prayer. We call it “prayer” now but we will call it “conversation” in heaven. That’s because we won’t have anything to pray about in heaven. All our needs will be met! And in heaven, instead of talking to an unseen person, we will be talking to God in person – live. This is in fact great news and reminds me a little bit of the joy I feel when I get the pastor live at church instead of via video stream. Everything is better live.
5. Jesus Christ. Hands down bottom line no question about it you better believe it the best part of heaven will be Jesus Christ. If you don’t love him now you won’t love him in heaven. Or you won’t be in heaven. Which is just plain sad. But you can do something about it! You can get yourself out of bed and head out to church with the hopes of meeting Jesus Christ. You just might fall in love with Him – forever.
I hope you’re ready to go to church by now. It’s Sunday after all.
See you at church everyone!
