Suppose you go to the doctor and you find out you have an abnormally high blood count. Not just any blood count, but a blood count that if high enough could kill you.
Suppose the doctor makes some adjustments to your medication regimen and asks you to come back in 2 days for a recheck, or a double check of that blood count.
Suppose you did everything the doctor said, then went back the second day, and had your blood test drawn again.
Suppose the lab screws up and gives you back the wrong blood test.
Suppose that wrong blood test is normal.
Would you be okay with that? Would it matter to you that your actual blood test may still be abnormal?
The irony is that you may feel joy at knowing that you are all right for the time being. You may go on living for a while with the notion that everything is all right.
But it’s not.
See if your blood is abnormal, no matter what the result from the lab says, you still have a problem.
Even if everyone around you is happy for you and throws you a party for having a “normal” result.
Even if you hug the doctor in pure joy for having received what you think is good news.
Just because something sounds good doesn’t make it true.
Don’t be lulled into believing a lie. Look for the truth.
No matter what.
