You’ve already decided to go to church.
That’s usually the hardest part.
But you don’t just want to go to church. Anyone can do that.
What you really want is to maximize your church experience. If only you knew how to.
Don’t worry, though, because I do. I’m going to give you 5 ways to make the most out of your church experience.
1. Get there early. Sundays are horrible days for me. I always feel like sleeping in. I never know what to wear. I end up barely making it to church on time and I’m usually bitter about it. The best way to make the best of your time at church is to get there early and settle in before it starts. Give yourself a minute to breathe.
2. Ask the Right Questions. We all have questions in life, and especially when it comes to church. But if you want to maximize your church experience, you may need to rethink your questions. Instead of asking: “what should I wear?”, you may need to ask something like: “what does God want to teach me today?”. You get the gist. Now practice it.
3. It’s not about the People. I know, I know. It’s always about the people. But when it comes to church, try not making it about the people. It’s really mostly about God and how God wants you to love the people! So stop worrying about whether that good looking guy is single, and turn your mind upwards instead!
4. Remember the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. That’s the golden rule, and there’s no better place to practice it than at church. Stop waiting for them to be nice to you. You be nice first. Stop waiting for her to introduce herself to you. Walk up to her instead. You’re trying to maximize your church experience, after all!
5. Embrace Change. You can’t go to church and be unwilling to change. You might as well sleep in if you have no intention of changing. God is at work through His word to change you into His likeness. It happens when you cooperate with Him and take the next step.
That’s it. Five easy ways to make the most of your church experience. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend and I’ll see you tomorrow!
