There’s nothing I like less than making a choice.
Do I wear the blue dress or the red one? Do I eat the fish or the burger? Which job should I take? Which guy should I marry? Where should I live?
If only choosing were easier.
As an Emergency Room physician I’ve been trained over the years to choose quickly and to choose rightly.
I’ve found that making the right choice consistently is not as hard as it looks. Think about choosing the right pair of shoes for the outfit you’re wearing.
You really need to ask just 4 questions when faced with any decision.
1. Are they too comfortable? Every woman knows that the right shoe isn’t always the most comfortable one. In the same way, when making a decision in life, don’t go for the one that feels right. Make sure it is right, even if it may hurt a little at first. With time every shoe is broken in just right!
2. Are they too trendy? Though I like trendy shoes, they aren’t the best investment. You may be able to wear them for one, maybe two seasons, but before long they will make their way to the good will basket. In some decisions, old fashioned remains what’s best. I’m an old fashioned girl with who reads an old fashioned book and believes the old fashioned way of the cross. Follow God’s ways, no matter how un-trendy they may seem!
3. Are they too cheap? Good shoes are costly, and so are the right choices. Are you willing to pay the price for being well dressed? What are you willing to sacrifice in order to get the right pair of shoes? Most women understand that the right shoe is worth every penny. Don’t be afraid of the price that comes with every right decision!
4. Are there too many? There’s nothing more annoying than walking into a closet with too many pairs of shoes. After a while you don’t even know what shoe is in which box. You may feel lucky to have em, but the reality is that you can only wear one shoe at a time. We are living in an age where options are so overwhelming it’s hard to keep your head straight. Don’t be fooled by the number of options. Always ask yourself the basic question: which choice will bring greater glory to God?
And remember: shoes are made to be worn. You cannot go barefoot all the time. Sooner or later, you’ve got to choose a pair.
Learn to choose wisely – every time!
