I know what you’re thinking.
Who are Sarah and Michele? No? That’s not what you’re thinking?
Ok, Ok – I know. You’re thinking: Why in the heck is Lina going there?
Good question. But before you start pointing your fingers at me, remember that when you point one finger at someone you’ve got 3 others pointing back at you.
But I digress.
Let me start by reassuring that this is not a political post, and the use of a fox news picture is purely incidental. I’m sure the lawyers from fox news will be contacting me later on today to notify me of some copyright law that I’m breaking by using their name on my blog.
Let it be known on record that I far prefer the travel channel to fox news anyway, so don’t start with the labels already.
But whether we like it or not, we are gearing up for an election, and I’ve been given ample opportunity to consider both Sarah and Michele. And regardless of where you end up voting – frankly, I’m just glad it’s not at 1200 Michigan avenue anymore, the parking was a major inconvenience and detriment to my ability to practice my rights as a law abiding and good will seeking citizen of our great country – but regardless of where or who you end up voting for, I believe that both Sarah and Michele have much to teach you and I about how to live our lives.
So…if you’re still reading – thank you! And I will now share 4 lessons about life that every Christian ought to learn from Sarah and Michele:
1. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. If you can say anything about S and M, it’s that they have put themselves out there. They have looked fear in the eye and marched through every barrier of sanity by willing to make their every opinion and every thought known to the world. I, for one, am impressed. Most of us spend our days talking about everything but anything that matters in fear of the repercussions. When it comes to sharing Jesus Christ with a lost world, are you putting yourself out there?
2. Determine to live without regret. Think I’m stretching it on this one? Think S and M will look back on their lives with a little tiny bit of regret? I don’t think so. I believe with all my heart that the more you give of yourself to others the happier you will be. S and M may regret how the media has characterized them, they may regret how their personal relationships have been affected by their stances, but I don’t believe for a moment that they will regret living it all out. Are you giving your all for the sake of something or someone greater than you?
3. Be willing to take a few hits. Anytime you put yourself out there and live for what you believe, you better know ahead of time that you are bound to take a few hits. S and M have shown us that you can take a few hits and still survive. So thicken your skin, Christian, and stand up straight. God is on your side. You’ve already been declared a winner. Now make the most of today.
4. Trust the Lord with the outcome. At the end of the day, all you can do is give it your best. What happens in life, and how things play out, ultimately are in the hands of the Lord. You can’t change how people react to you, or whether they will buy what you are saying. But that’s not what you’ve been called to. You, my friend, have been called to represent the Lord Jesus Christ with your words, your actions, your attitudes, and your life. The rest is His to decide.
This is not a paid advertisement. This is not political propaganda.
This is the honest to God truth of the matter.
