Why do You go to Church?

Why do you go to church?

Have you thought about it lately? Or maybe you don’t go. Your friends tell you you should. Your grandma told you you ought to.

But why? why do you go to church?

I go to church because I need perspective.

I go to church because life is hard, and problems accumulate, and the way gets long.

I go to church because I forget easily.

I go to church because I need people to do life with.

I go to church because I can.

I go to church because in some places, people can’t.

I go to church because the Bible tells me so.

I go to church because God wants me to.

I go to church because God is pleased when I do.

I go to church because I love Him.

What about you? Why do you go to church?

I go to church to meet God and likeminded people. I get sustenance to take me through the following week and reminds me to go ands tell in between, I enjoy the singing and the hymns and the peace and quiet to reflect. At the end I come lifted up

It is so true about the peace and quiet! I had forgotten that portion that is available if I could just get there early!

I go to church to worship and praise God because I love Him. I feel like part of a big family when I go to church. It’s as if I were going home every week. I am safe and secure there.

That is so true! There are times I feel lonely in the crowd, but that is my choice, because there are always people who are willing to pull you into their circle, and it is a blessing that the people who work in the bookstore are always so friendly and encouraging! I am part of a small group which I dearly love, but almost all of them go to services at different times, and although many have fellowship after church, I can’t because my teenage boys are with me who want to get home right away!

I go to church because I believe that God meets his people there. I also believe that the Holy Spirit is powerful, and the more people that are in fellowship who are filled with the Holy Spirit, the more uplifting and life-changing the Holy Spirit is in my own life.
I go to church because I want to reach out to others who are in our church although I do not always obey him in this! There was a time when I was free to invite people over for lunch after church and share the gospel with them and try to share what God is doing in my life to encourage them, and to give them encouragement and just listen. Since I am married to an unbeliever who has become very much against my faith since I got breast cancer, and even before that, the freedom to do so has not been there.
I come to church because I CAN fellowship with other believers and sing to my heart’s content about God’s love and to worship him. To be able to get on my knees and pour my heart out to him in public privacy! I don’t know if anyone gets that, but I can pray without distraction about the fact that I am never alone in my house and cannot freely pray out loud or sing without knowing it is bothering my husband.
To see what is going on with our church and to learn about the ministries that up till now I have only been able to pray about.
To get the courage to live for Christ and to know that others are also going through the same thing.
To be reminded that God has spared my life and healed me from Breast Cancer because he has not given up on me even though I have a constant battle with believing I am unusable and I am assured by God’s grace AND reproof that God will use me if I will just submit myself wholly to Him!
I go out of obedience, especially at those times when I feel I do not deserve to even be in the same room with other Christians and do not have the right spirit of worship. I feel like a hypocrite at these times and am told so by my teenage boys over and over again!
I come to church because especially on those weeks when I have not been faithful to studying my Bible, talking to Him about my sins and my needs, praying for others, and for letting my time be spent on things that do not glorify Him, I pray that God will draw me back and that I have a new chance to be refreshed by His presence and the preaching of the word of God.( This is probably going to be too long to post! Happens every time I try to write anything! ) I am going to try to post this and continue!
