ABOUT THIS STUDY
Hey. If you love stories, there’s quite no other book to turn to than Genesis.
In Genesis, God introduces us to Himself, to humanity and to our need for a Rescuer. We’re going to learn through this book about the grace and faithfulness of God despite human failure, as well as what can happen when one puts his faith and trust in God and obeys His ways.
This is one of the most powerful studies I’ve taught. It’s rich in content, and the lessons to be learned from this book will never be exhausted. I can’t wait for you to get started!
The study includes an outline, discussion questions, and can be done individually or in a group.
LESSON 1
Genesis 1-2:3 ‘The Heart of the Rescuer.’ Welcome to the study of Genesis. It all started with creation. You’re about to be introduced to the story of God.
LESSON 2
Genesis 2 ‘No Longer Alone.’
In this episode, find out how Adam met his wife Eve while everything was still perfect.
LESSON 3
Genesis 3 ‘Overcoming Temptation.’ In Genesis 3, we learn about the fall of mankind. If you’ve ever wondered why evil exists in the world today, you’re about to find out.
LESSON 4
Genesis 4-5 ‘Rescued from Jealousy.’ Jealousy has been a problem for man since the beginning of time. In this podcast, you will learn about Cain’s struggle with jealousy.
LESSON 5
Genesis 6-7 ‘Saved from the Culture.’ We’re living in dangerous times, not unlike the days of Noah. This episode covers it all: the great flood, an ark, a man with great faith, and a faithful God. Listen and find strength to stand up for what you believe.
LESSON 6
Gen 8-9 ‘No More Death.’ In the finale of the story of Noah, you will learn about God’s first covenant with humans – the noahic covenant. No matter what you’re going through right now, this lesson will remind you that you are not forgotten by the rescuer of this world.
LESSON 7
Genesis 9:18-11 ‘Fall of the Proud.’ The story of Babel is a riveting example of pride. Find out how God rescues his people from self-destruction in today’s episode.
LESSON 8
Genesis 12-13 ‘Living Life on Purpose.’ Do you know what your purpose in life is? In Genesis 12, God calls the first patriarch Abraham and shows us how to live life on purpose.
LESSON 9
Genesis 14-15 ‘Making Right Choices.’ This week we’re going to live in Genesis 14-15 as we learn more about Abraham and his walk of faith.
LESSON 10
Genesis 16-17 ‘Out of the Wilderness.’ Have you been wondering what Sarai’s been up to so far in the story of Abram? Well we’re about to find out! We’re also going to meet Hagar.
LESSON 11
Genesis 18-19 ‘Rescued from Judgment.’ Abraham now has a son. His name is Ishmael, but he is not the son of faith promised by God. There is still another son to come.
LESSON 12
Genesis 20-21 ‘Refusing Unbelief.’ I don’t know about you, but I’m a little bit glad to be done with the story of Lot. Now the promise is finally going to come through! A child is about to be born.
LESSON 13
Genesis 22-23 ‘Rescued from Idolatry.’ Sometimes God asks us more than we think we can handle. We’re about to see why Abraham was commended for his faith even at this most difficult crossroad of his life.
LESSON 14
Genesis 24-25 ‘God’s Specific Will.’ Most of you know how much I enjoy a great love story, and if you’re like me, you won’t be disappointed this week! We’re about to meet one of the best matchmakers in the whole Bible.
LESSON 15
Genesis 25-26 ‘Rescued from Conflict.’ This week we’re gonna see how God’s promise is continuing to come to pass through Isaac. I’m so glad God is a promise keeper.
LESSON 16
Genesis 27-29 ‘Sin & its Consequences.’ We’ve got a big section ahead of us, and we’re about to get to know Jacob even more than we thought possible.
LESSON 17
Genesis 30-31 ‘Rejecting Rivalry.’ This week we will study the relationship between Rachel and Leah, 2 sisters. We will also see Jacob start the trek back home.
LESSON 18
Genesis 32-33 ‘Striving in Prayer.’ This week, Jacob will finally make up with Esau. Before he does, though, he’s about to have a wrestling match with God.
LESSON 19
Genesis 34-36 ‘Rescued from Compromise.’ I’m constantly amazed by how raw and authentic the Bible is. God doesn’t try to make people look better than they are, and the story always points back to a God of grace who is waiting to rescue us.
LESSON 20
Genesis 37-38 ‘Rescued to Dream.’ If you thought you liked Abraham, or Isaac, or Jacob, wait until you get a load of Joseph! He’s like no other. In this last portion of our study, we will see God as rescuer like never before.
LESSON 21
Genesis 39-40 ‘Freedom in Prison.’ We will spend this week back with Joseph. Trust me when I tell you you’re about to fall in love with this young man!
LESSON 22
Genesis 41-42 ‘Rejecting Hopelessness.’ God uses the prisons in our lives to make us what He wants us to be, and to prepare us for what’s to come.
LESSON 23
Genesis 43-45 ‘Overcoming Bitterness.’ The story of Jacob’s family continue. Joseph tests his brothers and then reveals himself to them, but can they receive their brother’s love without fear?
LESSON 24
Genesis 45-47 ‘Joy Comes in the Morning.’ It was shock enough for Joseph’s brothers to hear that Joseph was still alive, but imagine trying to tell their old man!
LESSON 25
Genesis 48-49 ‘Eternity Awaits.’ We wind down our study in Genesis with Jacob’s last words!
LESSON 26
Genesis 50 ‘Reason to Rescue.’ Some last lessons to learn about life, forgiveness, and God as our rescuer.
