Why does a medical doctor spend her time teaching Bible study?

Great question! Because I love it!  And because I believe it’s my true calling in life. Doctoring sure helps pay the bills and it also comes in handy in thinking of Bible study illustrations but teaching the Bible to women is what I’m wired to do. I am passionate about understanding God’s word as it relates to life and communicating it to others.

What kind of topics does Lina teach on?

I can pretty much teach on any topic, but you can be sure that what you will get is a Bible study. I am not a motivational speaker. I am not a health related speaker. I am a Bible study teacher. You give me a topic, and I will find an appropriate biblical passage that relates to that topic and let the word of God speak for itself.

What if our church doesn’t have a specific theme for a women’s conference?

I have taught very frequently over the last few years and can help you formulate a theme. I have taught individual sessions as well as a short 3 session series that is perfect for retreats.  As I said before, as long as it’s teaching the Bible, we can come up with a theme that fits your group of women.

How far will you travel to speak at an event?

As far as is necessary.  Because I grew up in Lebanon, and speak several languages, I would love to teach the Bible to women in international churches. Don’t hesitate to ask!

How hard is it to book a doctor for a speaking engagement? How much lead time do you need?

My specialty is Emergency Medicine. Because of that, my schedule is very flexible. If you give me a couple of months notice, then I can work around your schedule. But if you need me this week, then I’d have to take a look at my calendar and juggle things around.

How much does a doctor charge for speaking?

Whatever you feel is appropriate. Because I work on the side, my needs are very adequately met. I usually ask that travel and accommodations be provided. Beyond that, let the Spirit of God lead you.
